Frequently asked questions

Answers to the questions retailers, store chains and banks ask us most about Natty, the smart safe you run from your POS.

What is a smart safe?

A safe that accepts banknotes through a validator, counts them, checks they are genuine and reports the amount deposited to the bank. The cash stays locked away until the cash-in-transit company collects it, and staff no longer need to count it, fill in deposit slips or take it to the bank.

How does provisional credit work?

Every time cash is deposited, Natty sends the amount, encrypted, to the bank. The bank credits it provisionally to the store's account before the cash-in-transit crew collects it. The risk transfers to the bank as soon as the notes enter Natty, not when the armoured vehicle leaves. The service is already certified in Italy with Banca Sella and the cash-in-transit company Knox; other banks can be connected on request.

How is Natty different from a bank night safe?

With a night safe, someone has to carry the cash to the branch, usually at the end of the day, and the credit arrives after the bank has counted it. With Natty the deposit is made in the store, at the counter, at any time: nobody walks the streets with the takings, and the provisional credit arrives before collection.

Do I need a PC or a display?

No. Natty is operated from the Android POS terminal the store already uses for card payments, or from an Android smartphone. Inside the safe there is only steel, the lock and the validator. Fewer parts mean lower cost and fewer weak points. Plug-In has filed a patent application for this solution.

Who can deposit, and how are deposits tracked?

Every operator has their own credentials on the POS. Who deposited, when and how much stays on record. The owner sees the deposits of one or a hundred stores from a smartphone.

How many banknotes does it hold? What is the difference between Natty and Natty-S?

Every container holds 2,000 banknotes. Natty has an automatic feeder: insert a bundle of up to 30 notes and it counts them by itself. Natty-S takes one note at a time, for lower deposit volumes at a lower price. On both you choose how the notes reach the cash-in-transit crew: rigid cassette, heat-sealed bag or canvas bag.

How secure is it?

A 12 mm steel body or a CEN III certified safe, a VdS Class 2 electromechanical lock with time delay, and a JCM validator. Data travel encrypted over GPRS, Wi-Fi or LAN. Display, printer and Android unit sit outside: there is nothing inside the strongbox to tamper with.

Which businesses is it for?

Stores that take cash every day in medium volumes: pharmacies, tobacconists, fuel stations, bars and restaurants, gaming halls, outlets and chains with many sites. For very high volumes, such as supermarkets, Plug-In offers machines with greater capacity and speed.

Which currencies does it accept?

Euro. Other currencies are available on request.

What does installation require?

A fixing point, a 24 Vdc power supply and a GPRS, Wi-Fi or LAN connection. Dimensions and weight depend on model and version: 35 × 49 × 49 cm and 130 kg for the reference version. The full technical sheet is in preparation.

How much does it cost?

It depends on the model, version and collection service. Tell us how many stores you have and which bank you work with, and we will send you a tailored proposal.
